Kalpana Hodam, housewife by profession was a victim of a bomb blast at ISKCON temple, Airport Road, Imphal West that took place on 16th August, 2006 . She was pregnant at the time of blast and had a premature delivery. Baby too had to be operated.
“I had gone to the ISKCON temple on 16th of August 2006, to offer prayers as it was Janmashtmi and witness a dance performance by one of my nieces. I was 8 months pregnant and my due date was the following month. We left the house at around 3 pm evening and it was around 6 pm that the bomb exploded. I never imagined that such an incident would happen at a holy place. Everybody was panicking and we didn’t know what was actually happening. I was hospitalized and after 5 days I gave birth to my daughter which was a premature delivery, who was born a month prior to the delivery date. The next day after her birth, the infant too had to be operated and there were splinters. The incident would always haunt as it was such a bad experience. But I thank God that both of us are safe and sound.”
